There are two standard set-ups for vaginal steaming: A Mild 10 minute steam & an Advanced 30 minute steam.

MILD YONI STEAM SET-UP FOR FIRST TIME & SENSITIVE USERS
How to Know if the Mild Yoni Steam Session is For You
- This is your first time steaming.
- You are prone to shorter cycles, 27 days or less.
- You have an IUD.
- You are prone to infections (bacteria, yeast, herpes, and HPV).
- You have indications of excess heat in the body (vaginal dryness, night sweats, hot flashes, etc)
- You are under the age of 13.
- You are prone to fresh red spotting/ trickle bleeding. Remember, never steam while currently bleeding fresh red blood.
- You have a herstory of spontaneous bleeding or 2 periods per month.
There are two ways to do a Mild 10 Minute Steam:
1) With a burner
2) Without a burner
Below you will find step by step yoni steam Instructions for both options.
Step by Step Directions for a Mild Yoni Steam Set-up with a burner:
- Remove the lid of the Kitara sauna and place it to the side.
- Place the burner inside the sauna, with the cord going through the back hole and the dial positioned at the lower rectangular opening.
- Pour 1-2 liters of water into your yoni steam pot.
- Add your loose herbs or your tea bag/tea infuser to the steam pot.
- Put your steam pot with water and herbs onto the burner.
- Put the steam pot lid on.
- Turn up the burner to medium and let the herbs cook for 10 minutes
- After 10 minutes the herbs will be ready.
- Turn the burner off.
- Remove the pot lid.
- If you are using a tea bag/infuser, remove the herbs with a slotted spoon. You can put the bag/infuser on a dish and put it in the fridge for use the next day. Don’t use the same herbs more than two days in a row.
- Put the sauna lid on top of the sauna.
- Test the steam with your hand. If it's too hot, let it cool for a minute. There is no benefit to it being too hot. The steam should be at a gentle and comfortable temperature.
- Your steam session is ready!
- Remove your bottoms and take a comfy wide legged seat.
Your Mild Set-up is designed for 10 minutes. So after 10 minutes please stand up and stop steaming.

Directions for your 10 Minute Steam Set-up without a burner:
- Pour 1-2 liters of water into your yoni steam pot.
- Place your steam pot on your cook-top/stove.
- Add your loose herbs or your tea bag/tea infuser to the steam pot.
- Put the steam pot lid on.
- Turn the heat of your cook-top/stove to medium and let the herbs cook for 10 minutes.
- After 10 minutes the herbs will be ready.
- Turn off the heat on your cook-top/stove.
- If you are using a tea bag/infuser, remove the herbs with a slotted spoon. You can put the bag/infuser on a dish and put it in the fridge for use the next day. Don’t use the same herbs more than two days in a row.
- Remove the lid of the Kitara sauna and place it to the side. To protect the bottom of the sauna, you might choose to put a heat safe plate into the center of the sauna. Carefully, and with the appropriate heat safe mitts, transfer your steam pot into your sauna.
- Remove the steam pot lid.
- Put the sauna lid on top of the sauna.
- Test the steam with your hand. If it's too hot, let it cool for a minute. There is no benefit to it being too hot. The steam should be at a gentle and comfortable temperature.
- Your steam session is ready!
- Remove your bottoms and take a comfy wide legged seat.
Your Mild set-up is designed for 10 minutes. So after 10 minutes please stand up and stop steaming.

ADVANCED YONI STEAM SET-UP FOR USERS WITHOUT SENSITIVITIES & CYCLES 28 DAYS OR LONGER
The Advanced Yoni Steam Session
Please choose the Advanced 30 Minute Steam Set-up only after determining that you do NOT have any of the sensitivities listed above that indicate you are only suited for a Mild 10 Minute Steam Set-up.
A note to those prone to shorter cycles: If you are prone to shorter cycles, 27 days and less, but through steaming you achieve a consistent 28 day cycle, stick with the Mild Steam Set-up. One who is prone to shorter cycles should not "advance" to the longer yoni steam session.
Step by Step Instructions for a 30 Minute Yoni Steam Session
- Remove the lid of the Kitara sauna and place to the side.
- Place the burner inside the sauna, with the cord going through the back hole and the dial positioned at the lower rectangular opening.
- Pour 1-2 liters of water into your steam pot.
- Add your loose herbs or your tea bag/tea infuser to the steam pot.
- Put your steam pot with water and herbs onto the burner.
- Put the steam pot lid on.
- Turn up the burner’s heat to medium.
- Let herbs cook for 10 minutes.
- After 10 minutes turn the heat off.
- Remove the pot lid.
- If you are using a tea bag/infuser, remove the herbs with a slotted spoon. You can put the bag/infuser on a dish and put it in the fridge for use the next day. Don’t use the same herbs more than two days in a row.
- Put the sauna lid on top of the sauna.
- Test the steam with your hand. If it's too hot, let it cool for a minute. There is no benefit to it being too hot. The steam should be at a gentle and comfortable temperature.
- Your session is ready!
- Remove your bottoms and take a comfy wide legged seat.
- Sit over the steam for 7 or 8 minutes until the steam starts to decrease.
- When you are ready for more steam or heat turn the burner up to the lowest setting.
- If you would like more heat, turn it up a little more. And so on until you get to a comfortable temperature.
Your Advanced Steam Set-up is designed for a maximum of 30 minutes. So after a total of 30 minutes of steaming please stand up and stop steaming.

How To Clean Up After a Yoni Steam
Steam Pot Clean-up: Discard the herbs in the toilet, waste basket, compost or directly back to the earth. Use a designated sponge and wash out the steam pot with water and dish soap. Then disinfect the steam pot afterwards with hydrogen peroxide, apple cider vinegar, alcohol or essential oil dilution.
Sauna Clean-up & Care: If you used a burner, please remove it from the sauna. Wipe or spray down the Kitara sauna with hot soapy water, hydrogen peroxide, apple cider vinegar, alcohol or an essential oil dilution. Dry down the sauna with a clean cloth.
Your Kitara yoni seat was originally finished with a loving coat of 100% all natural tung oil. To maintain the finish please use a clean cloth and tung oil to add additional protection when necessary. Every few months is recommended. Please make sure to choose a 100% all natural tung oil that is food safe and avoid any product that says “finish.”
